The 'cagey' (KG) Art Project

Hello, and thanks for checking out our latest little experiment!
Kate and I have known each other for too many years to mention in polite company, but we often meet up in a café and doodle or play with our watercolours over a coffee (and cake, but let's not dwell on that...).  We have completely different styles and each hunger to be able to do what the other finds 'ordinary'.

For example: Kate is a realistic artist.  She finds it relaxing to sketch EVERY DETAIL in a photo or the landscape, people in front of her... While Gayle (me) is sooo loose and fancy free!  I can, at a pinch, sketch a realistic composition.  But it literally feels like someone is pulling my hair out - lol.

One day, over coffee etc. we came up with an experiment.  To help us and stretch our artistic skills.  We wondered, "what would happen if one of us STARTS a painting, and then the other has to finish it?"  We tried finishing a couple of sketches in the other's style... This did not go well.  So the experiment changed.  We HAD to stay true to our way of creating.  If Kate started off a painting with a detailed sketch, Gayle needed to finish it, but using bold abstract marks.  Or the other way around:  If Gayle gave Kate a loose abstract painting, she had to finish it with her details.  A reference photo was needed for Kate to do this, so it (the inspiration photo) was added to the rules.

So far, we've amazed ourselves and have even sold a couple of experiments.  If you are looking at one of our #KGArtProject paintings, feel free to pay the staff and take your treasure home.  We only price them at $50 to cover our art supply (okay, and cakes) so we can run the experiment again.  But there's no need to buy if it doesn't make your heart sing.  Simply check out our little corner and see if another painting make you smile.

Thanks so much for reading all this.  And many thanks to our collectors so far.
Cheers Gayle and Kate  2025
